Roof repair or replacement? Five questions to ask first
A leak does not automatically mean a full replacement, and a patch is not always the most economical answer. Before choosing a direction, ask:
- Is the issue isolated to one damaged area or repeated across the roof?
- Are shingles curling, cracking or missing in multiple sections?
- Is there visible damage around valleys, vents, chimneys or flashing?
- Has moisture reached the roof deck, attic insulation or interior ceiling?
- Will a repair blend with the existing roof and provide a reasonable service life?
A thorough inspection should explain what failed, show you the affected area and separate urgent work from optional upgrades.
